Here is a list of all available wormers and their use. This is a guideline to use at home but always consult with your vet by phone before using. If in doubt of which worms your animal might have, drop off a stool sample to your vet and ask for a parasite panel for worms that also includes coccidiosis and giardia.

Antiprotozoal Oral Paste (Marquis) Treats Coccidia. Typical dosage 1 cc per 10#s body weight. Repeat in 7 days with same dosage.Krause Vet Clinic in Armada MI carries it. Works far more superiour than Albon

Sulfadimethoxine (Albon): treats coccidia. Typical dosage is 55mg/kg (25mg/pound) on day 1, then 27.5mg/kg (12.5mg/pound) once daily for 9 additional days. Albon can take weeks to completely rid the animal of coccidia. We’ve found that Marquis works in 2 doses.

Metronidazole (Flagyl): treats Giardia. Typical dosage is 50mg/kg (22.7mg/pound) for 5-7 days. Can use one daily or split into two equal treatments per day. This is also RX only from your vet, but you can purchase it labled for fish from Pet Supplies Plus and all over online. Much more cost effective.

Ivermectin (Ivomec, Heartgard): treats roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and prevents heartworms. Typical dosage for intestinal parasites is 0.2mg/kg (0.09mg/pound=~1/10cc per 10 pounds). Heartworm prevention is .006mg/kg (.003mg/pound). A 1% solution of Ivermectin is equal to 10mg/ml). Heartgard is prescription only. USE LIQUID IVERMECTIN IN WITH GREAT CAUTION IN COLLIES AND RELATED BREEDS! AND make sure you use a human diabetic syringe when drawing it out to be exact. This is a dangerous drug and you can kill your pet if you over dose. *notice 1 tenth of a CC per 30 pounds of the 0.08% sheep drench Ivomec. Do not get this confused. Any questions consult your vet. This can be purchased at any Tractor Supply or on amazon. I will provide the correct links below to take you to the actual product. You can purchase syringes on amazon or any pharmacy without a script.
